The Sindhi of BC recently
celebrated their new year on first full moon day of Chaitra month (Known as
Cheti Chand) as per the Hindu calendar. This year on March 18th Sindhi community
came together to celebrate new year with the dynamism of the occasion and
sharing its joys with the rest of the community. It was a different experience for me and I am glad that I was the part of this special occasion. Every culture has own traditions. On this day Sindhis cook the traditional black
gram and sweet rice pudding. Also special offering was prepared for 'Jhulelal'.The festival also marks the arrival of spring and harvest .
Being the queen of universe; while you might not want to take your role quite that far, you can become the queen of your own life simply by changing your outlook. I chose to be the Indian goddess of Saraswati. Hindu goddess of knowledge, music and art.
We're living in a vibrant
multicultural country, so it's great that we want to understand cultures
other than our own. Trying to understand and
embrace cultural differences can open us up to a whole world of exciting new
possibilities and experiences
May the blessings of
Jhulelal shower upon you this new year and bestow you with all the fortunes of
a happy life. Happy Cheti Chand.
I would like to participate in next event though I am not a Sindhi
