Vancouver’s quintessential bi-annual event International Fashion Gala

Far, far away, beyond all sorts of countries, seas, and rivers, there stood a splendid fashion capital…. If there’s one city that worthy of the “fashion capital” crown, it’s Vancouver. Vancouver is without a doubt the capital of Canadian  and North American fashion. Cosmopolitan, it incorporates luxury, art, gastronomy and culture… it’s the perfect place for fashionistas and industry enthusiasts. The desire to bring to our city a cultural revolution, if even on a small scale, to inspire a rebirth of the creative arts, we begin with fashion. Vancouver’s quintessential bi-annual event, yes, it’s International Fashion Gala. This is an unmissable event for all fashion lovers, as well as industry professionals and media. Vancouver International Fashion Gala features the fashion industry finest independent designers, showcasing their latest collections. This year event took place at the Vancouver Club on November 22nd.

This year's theme at the International Fashion Gala is Renaissance. The theme is radiant with hope, which is something so greatly needed in our time. The fashions changed over time but the culture grew to encompass all forms of art: painting, sculpture, music, poetry, literature, it was a period of time unlike any other where the arts were supported and respected. IFG theme does not aim to replicate the period but rather to be inspired by the elements used in fashion of that time: the sumptuous materials, brocade, and lace, the delicate forms, the romantic. To be exhilarated, intoxicated with the elegance which that era inspired. Let us begin a new cultural movement, we could all improve our lives by embracing and supporting the artists in our community! With gratitude for all those who support the creative minds, for those who are themselves, artists, we give you the Renaissance Gala! Some of the designers at  the Renaissance Gala are Helena Hawthorne, Zoe Wu, Eva Jenkins, Andrew Flatland, Visiual College of Art and Design Designers Chantel Chang, Chay Clayton, Genete Nujar, Lounacitas Murdocc.

Fashion sets the tone for society. The modern mind of society has accepted body art not only as a trend, but an art form held in highest respects. At the International Fashion Gala, Jennifer Little brought a new trendy look to Body Painting; body painting is a form of body art where artwork is painted directly onto the human skin. Unlike tattoos and other forms of body art, body painting is temporary
The International Fashion Gala was not all about fashion; it was a combination of music and dance performances too. Thanks to Erika Yorida for beatiful violin performance and the Pairier Productions Dance Studios dancers performance at the stage. They were splendid.
The International Fashion Gala has become known for its unique ability to bring out everyone interested in high fashion. The Gala is entirely volunteer-run and would not succeed without our founder David Chen. He founded the Vancouver International Fashion Gala to give back to help young models, designers and charities. In 2016; He came up this idea for the International Fashion Festival - a platform to develop the multiple cultures of fashion, acting, modeling, singing and dancing. This year marks the sixth consecutive year of the Gala and our media and audiences continue to grow. We have all contributed  something of ourselves for this Gala. I took the Public Relations Coordinator role in this Gala and I appreciate you being a part of our growing community!

  1. Very thorough coverage and lots of people under the bright lights. Lots of good information about the Renaissance, too. Congratulations on your hard work in showing everyone how wonderful the International Fashion Festival and Gala is.
